SMEs to Grill MPs
Small firms will get the chance to question MPs face-to-face about business issues at two free events run by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) next month.
The Question Time-style events are open to businesses nationwide, and will be held in Bournemouth and Southampton on 10th and 11th September. The panel will include MPs from southern England from the three main political parties.
Businesses which attend the events will be able to discuss the policies ahead of the general election, which could be called at any time within the next year. An FSB representative will be on hand at each event to voice the viewpoints of small-business owners.
“We urge small firms to book their places now,”
said FSB regional chairman, Ken Moon.
“These evenings will provide a rare and unique opportunity to question local MPs from the three main political parties on any relevant subject, but perhaps with a slight bias towards the current economic situation and the forthcoming election.”
FSB spokeswoman Julie Radcliffe added that the events will give small firms a chance to find out what the three main parties’ business policies are.
“The decisions made in parliament make a huge difference to the way a small business can run. Obviously with the current economic climate, the way that support for small businesses is organised is important. At MP Question Time, small-business owners will have an opportunity to question the three main parties on what their policies are to support small businesses.”
The MPs participating in the Bournemouth event are Jim Knight (Labour, South Dorset), Annette Brooke (Liberal Democrat, Mid Dorset), and Oliver Letwin (Conservative, West Dorset).
The MPs participating in the Southampton event are Mark Hoban (Conservative, Fareham), Alan Whitehead (Labour, Southampton West) and Sandra Gidley (Liberal Democrat, Romsey).
Businesses planning to attend the events must reserve a place in advance. For more information about the events and to book a place, call the FSB on 01425 280 080 or email email@example.com
