Small businesses considering launching green goods and services can access free advice following the publication of a Carbon Trust guide. Recent research by the Carbon Trust found that more than half of small firms believe that reaping the benefits of green growth requires access to capital, and less than a third expect it to lead to increased profits. The survey also highlighted that the green UK market is currently valued at £112 billion. Small-business owners can easily check which industry standards apply to their business, following the launch of an interactive tool on the Business Link website. The tool directs users to summaries of standards relevant to their business and contains details of 880 of the most viewed or purchased standards. Employment advisory service Acas has published a free guide to help employers evaluate job roles and provide an appropriate rate of pay. The guide, Job evaluation: considerations and risks, advises employers how to assess the relative importance of the various jobs within their business, taking into account skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions.
