Dragons’ Den Online Educational Programme

Aspiring entrepreneurs can now now put themselves in the Dragons’ Den online and learn the business skills of the Dragons themselves…

Dragons’ Den Online Educational ProgrammeThe BBC’s hit business TV show, Dragons’ Den is now launched as the first ever Dragons’ Den Online Educational Programme.

Comprising a modular "e-academy" for budding entrepreneurs to brush up on their business theory, the Dragons’ Den OEP aims to test users’ knowledge and then put their skills to the test in a role-playing simulation.

Using clips from the show itself users are asked to watch, listen and make notes before being asked a number of questions about how they would assess the pitch they’ve been presented.

The role-play section asks users, posing as potential invetors, about their gut instinct on bids as well as testing their business acumen in terms of assessing risk, the financial aspects of the pitch and looking at the markets and opportunities for the pitch, just like on Dragons’ Den.

Using the e-academy and role-play, players can increase and test their knowledge and skills against other budding entrepreneurs, seeing their progress on leaderboards and benchmarking their own progress.

The ultimate aim is to learn business skills and put them into practice where, upon completion of the course, wannabe Dragons can earn certification on their completion of the e-academy exam and role-play simulations.

Nigel Culkin, Professor of Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Development, University of Hertfordshire where the inspiration for the platfrom came from, said of the Dragons’ Den OEP:

“I am fully supportive of this revolutionary new approach to experiential learning. As one of the leading business-facing Universities in the UK, we’re keen to embrace new technologies that make learning and self-development both engaging and useful to the individual. To date, more than 15,000 people have experienced this unique role-playing simulation, which I would sum up as increasing a person’s self-confidence in taking decisions that once seemed beyond them.”

Created by e-learning firm Dialectyx Solutions, alongside Sony Television Pictures and the BBC, the Dragons’ Den Online Education Programme costs £l299 and provides users with a "9 skills for success" personal profikle and development plan and a Business Success Toolkit.
