John Armitt, CBE - President, British Business ClubThe latest incentive to boost British business is a joint venture between the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), London & Partners, the London Business Network, and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). It’s called the British Business Club.

With London 2012 fast approaching, the British Business Club’s aim is to increase the number of opportunities for British business around this major sporting event and others in the future.

The networking opportunities will include summits and conferences such as those at the forthcoming Paralympic and Olympic Games plus business events and one-to-one meetings.

The British Business Club is free to join and open to businesses wherever they are in the world and the Institute of Directors (IoD) is offering a free temporary membership to businesses that join. The membership period is open from the 1st of July until the 14th of September 2012.

Sir John Armitt, CBE, President of the British Business Club, said:

"The British Business Club offers a unique networking tool for UK businesses to capitalise on their involvement in the Olympic Games, particularly in terms of securing work on other major sports events — a fast-growing sector that is creating many new opportunities. British companies, big and small, now have precious experience that they can use to win business at home and abroad."

Lord Green, the Minister for Trade and Investment, added:

"Through the British Business Club, UK companies can use the excitement generated by the world’s greatest sporting festival to seek out new clients across the globe. It’s a key part of our plan to make sure we realise a business legacy for companies up and down our country from these Games."

Originally launched backin September 2011, the British Business Club is now open as a free online resource to capitalise on the buzz surrounding the London Olympics and will hopefully "open a few doors" for British businesses as the eyes of the world focus on the UK.

Sign up for the British Business Club and take advantage of the opportunities and the (temporary) free IoD membership (until September 14, 2012)
