Last Call for Work Experience Awards 2012

Small businesses offering exceptional work placements have less than a week left to enter the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) awards before the deadline closes on the 9th of December.

The awards recognise firms where work placements and graduate internships make a real difference to both the business and the student. The best small businesses will receive a package of marketing support that includes press coverage and the right to use the NCWE logo on their marketing materials to highlight their success and help them attract future students and interns.

Small businesses can enter themselves or be nominated in several award categories, including:

  • Work Placement of the Year 2012:

    • Best Large Organisation with Over 250 Employees
      – Long-term Placements (20+ Students)
      – Long-term Placements (Fewer than 20 Students)
      – Short-term Placements (up to 3 months duration)
    • Best SME (10-250 Employees)
    • Best Micro Enterprise (Under 10 Employees)
    • Best Newcomer (set up within last 2 years)
    • Public Sector
    • Charitable Sector
    • Law Sector
    • Work Placement of the Year – as nominated by a careers adviser, jobshop or placement tutor
    • Best Employment Experience – as nominated by a student

    Graduate Internship of the Year 2012:

    • Best Large Organisation with Over 250 Employees
    • Best SME
    • Best Micro Enterprise

There are also awards for overall work placement of the year and best employment experience, as nominated by careers advisers and students.

Entrants are judged on a variety of criteria ranging from induction to objectives and assessment. Finalists will be announced next February and the awards given at a ceremony in March at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall in London.

Commenting on last year’s awards, London Bubble Theatre Company spokeswoman Lucy Bradshaw said:

“The awards have given us a boost as a business. We put a lot of time and effort into providing quality work experience placements and it’s wonderful to get recognition for it.”
