Work-related Stress Sees Businesses Lose £57bn a Year in Productivity

UK small businesses are losing £75bn ever year in productivity due to ‘work-related stress’, according to a report by Britain’s Healthiest Workplace (BHW). The survey of over 32,500 employees found that that high levels of stress and a lack of physical activity among workers are causing some industries to lose up to 27 days of productive time per employee each year. What’s more 73% of UK employees are said to be suffering from at least one form of work-related stress. The healthcare and financial services sector is faring the worst for productivity losses, losing 26.6 days and 24.9 days respectively per employee annually, while high-tech firms have been found to have the most productive workers with just 18.9 productivity days lost per employee annually.
