New Directory of Exporters Set to ‘Transform’ UK International Trade
5 major high street banks will work with the department for international trade from November to create the UK’s biggest export directory
The UK’s five major high street banks (Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest and Santander) will collaborate with the newly created department for international trade to create the UK’s ‘biggest export directory’, the government has announced.
Described as a “landmark collaboration”, the government and banks have claimed the service will help make the process of exporting easier for UK businesses.
The directory will enable potential customers and buyers across the globe search for UK companies that are ready to supply the products, services and skills they need.
To be officially launched in November 2016, businesses can already register for the directory to ensure they’re ready to showcase themselves to an international audience.
The directory will be further supported by an international marketing campaign.
Dr Liam Fox, secretary of state for international trade, said:
“The first of its kind, this directory will deliver a unique and new route to global markets, promoting British goods and services on an unprecedented scale.
“With this kind of creativity and collaborative working between government and industry, I’m confident that we can make the whole of the UK a beacon for open trade around the world.”
