How is your business different from what’s already out there?
Movebubble’s vision is to move the world’s renters, instantly anywhere! We have built a two-sided market place that enables renters and agents to transact in hours not days.
Young professionals can download our app, book viewings in two taps, and secure a property in minutes at any time of the day, as if they have someone else managing their search for them.
Agents never need to go to the office as they can manage the whole moving process on the go. We like to think we are in the business of helping renters move home not advertising!
How did you finance your business?
Movebubble has raised over £2m of private funding from several high profile business investors, including former Spotify managing director Adam Williams, and British entrepreneur Robert Stiff.
What is the most important thing to keep track of in business and why?
The people! If you have a great team of smart people, working on an interesting product that provides a solution to a commonly felt problem, everything else will look after its self.
What is the biggest day-to-day challenge you face?
Focus! With limited resources, it is crucial that every day you move closer to your goal. Learning to say no to everything else that does not directly contribute to it is the most important thing to remember.
What marketing techniques do you use to attract new customers?
Build a great product that people will want to talk about! And make sure everything you do is in-line with your company mission.
Do you think it’s important for small businesses to export, any tips?
This isn’t relevant to Movebubble, so I’m not in the position to offer any advice!
What’s the business app you couldn’t do without?
Slack is hugely important for keeping tabs on everything that is happening in the business. It’s great for keeping up to date with how individual teams are getting on, without having to get involved and disrupt their flow.
Describe your company’s culture in three words:
Renter first! No need for third.
What would you like the government to do for small business?
Extend the EIS relief to over £5m, so small businesses can get the investment they need to grow.
Who’s your biggest small and medium enterprise hero?
My dad is a huge inspiration to me. He works in marketing, and runs his own creative agency. I also really admire Elon Musk, the serial entrepreneur, for his approach to space technology and his innovations and forward thinking in the sector.
What’s your top tip for keeping it lean and making profit?
Ask yourself whether the money you’re about to spend will get you closer to your goal? If it won’t, don’t spend it!
