Case Study – Kappa Packaging

Kappa is the third-largest manufacturer of packaging in Europe. It employs 83 members of staff at its premises in Abercarn, South Wales.

It is company policy to openly advertise promotion opportunities internally, and decisions are based on an employee’s ability

to carry out the duties and meet the responsibilities of the new post. A third of the workforce is aged 50 and over, and more than three quarters are over 40.

Kappa’s employee policies have led to stability within a workforce which is gradually becoming older. The company is very comfortable with this.
