Competition: Confessions of a Startup
A competition has been launched to find the hardest working entrepreneurs in the country as they film their lives starting up in business.
Business people are being asked to submit a video pitch for an opportunity to to star in Confessions of a StartUp.
The winning bids will then go on to film the first 50 days of their new venture, committing their daily lives to the camera and capturing the highs and lows of starting up in 2013.
In all, five winners will be announced; four by the panel of judges and a fifth selected by social media.
The overall winner will receive not just a big screen showing of their film, with travel and accomodation, but a prize package worth £5,000 consisting of a laptop, HD video camera and more.
The competition, organised by the national enterprise campaign, StartUp Britain, and stationery company Viking, offers a unique opportunity for startup small businesses to be featured on the big screen.
Emma Jones, entrepreneur and co-founder of StartUp Britain, said of the competition:
“We are seeing record numbers of businesses starting up in the UK. We’ve all heard the challenges and seen Dragon’s Den, but what is the reality in 2013?”
“We thought it would be really interesting to chronicle the effort it takes to find funding, office space, employ people, develop ideas, new products – and of course celebrate.”
“We’re looking for the start-ups of today who destined to become the business stars of tomorrow.”
The winner will also receive national press exposure, a branding session with a top marketing agency and business mentoring from Emma Jones herself.
Hurry, Competition Deadline is April 1st
If you’re just about to venture out in building a new startup business then enter your video pitch for a chance to be the star of Confessions of a StartUp.
Once your video is up on the Confessions of a StartUp YouTube channel, the StartUp Britain team will pick 4 winners by Monday the 1st of April and you will have to get as many "likes" as possible to win the fifth place, the social media wildcard.
The winners will then be announced on Monday the 8th of April.
The 50 days of filming will begin on April the 12th and run until the 31st of May.
The London film premiere, and StartUp Britain Oscar award, will take place on June the 14th.
