Enter the Environment and Energy Awards
Small businesses which are innovative in their energy-saving methods can boost their green credentials, following the launch of the Environment and Energy Awards.
Run by events organisers Sustainabilitylive!, small firms are not eligible to enter all award categories but can apply for the ESTA Energy Manager of the Year Award and Sustainable Business of the Year Award. There is also an award dedicated to firms with up to 250 employees which make energy saving a priority despite a limited budget ― the SME Award for Energy Efficiency.
“The winning entry will be a company that exceeds the accepted standard.”
said a Sustainabilitylive! spokeswoman.
“Their application should prove that the company has done something to improve their environmental footprint and reduce energy consumption.”
Previous winner of the SME Award for Energy Efficiency was JC Stewart Ltd, a family-run supermarket.
“We entered the awards to promote our environmental credentials and we have subsequently received publicity in regional and trade press,”
said spokeswoman Kate Babington.
“Our suppliers have used us as a successful case study and an example of best practice. It’s good for our staff to feel like they’ve won something that is publicised externally.”
Entries will be charged £50 + VAT until 23 December, after which the entry fee increases to £65 + VAT. However, there is no charge to enter the Energy Manager of the Year Award. The deadline for entries is 13 January 2012.
