HSE to Close Business Information Advice Line

Businesses will no longer be able to seek telephone advice about health and safety issues from the end of September, after the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) announced plans to close its Infoline service.

From 1 October, employers seeking information about health and safety issues will be limited to using the HSE website.

However, HSE director of strategy Trevor Carlile said that businesses will still be able to notify the safety regulator about fatal and major incidents and injuries by phone.

“More than half of reportable injuries are already notified to HSE through the website and this proportion has been increasing steadily over the past seven years. Taking advantage of the growing use of the internet allows HSE to be more efficient in the way it works.”

“But we do recognise that people reporting a traumatic event still need that personal interaction, so the notification of fatal and major incidents and injuries will still take place by phone.”

To report fatal and major injuries and incidents, telephone HSE on 0845 300 9923
