International Trade Awards: Win £1,500 of Online Advertising

Businesses that trade internationally are being invited to enter the 2010 International Trade Awards for a chance to win £1,500-worth of online promotion.

The awards, sponsored by Santander Corporate Banking, recognise trading excellence in tough times by the UK’s exporters and importers. All UK firms with a turnover of more than £1 million who trade abroad can enter one of 12 local heats to win a regional title.

Regional finalists benefit from £1500-worth of online promotion, including coverage of their firm on the trading advice site InternationalTrade. Each finalist will also receive a video interview with their business at the House of Lords for their website.

Finalists from round the UK will be entered for three national awards, which will be presented in spring 2011 at the House of Lords:

  • Small to medium Company of the Year for International Trade: this award recognises “outstanding achievement” of a firm with total yearly sales of £10 million and under.
  • The Eversheds Excellence in Innovation Award celebrates the company who has shown exceptional innovation in their products and services to grow their business.
  • The Santander International Trade Company of the Year, presented to the business that the judges feel has produced outstanding performance and achievement in international trade.

2009 winner of the small-business award, Susie Hewson, founder and owner of Bodywise (UK) Ltd – Natracare, said:

“We feel very proud to have won this International Trade award [sponsored in 2009 by HSBC] as it demonstrates to us that we are perceived by our peers to be significantly contributing to the growth of the British economy and to its industrial reputation overseas.

“Governments of all colours have noted of late that it is the value and courage of small and medium-sized enterprises which will help to bring employment to our youth and aid economic recovery.”

The closing date for entries varies by region, from 26 October 2010 to 11 January 2011. Finalists will be notified between October 2010 and February 2011.
