Free Online Training helps SMEs Cut Waste
Small businesses can get help reducing their waste, following the launch of two free online training courses by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
The two web courses are delivered through three online modules over three months. The Rippleffect course is aiming to help firms save money by cutting down on water usage, by identifying simple water saving steps and measuring their cost savings.
The course also requires businesses to benchmark their water use and set targets for reducing it. Free registration includes access to video training case studies, webcasts, online tools and guides.
"With UK businesses using more than 9.8 billion cubic metres of water each year, according to Envirowise, there is significant potential for businesses to save money and reduce their environmental impact by taking action on water efficiency,"
said energy consultancy AEA’s water specialist, Claire Sweeney.
The second initiative, Rethink Waste, is aimed at small manufacturers. It includes modules on decreasing waste in order to reduce the firm’s landfill tax bill, through resources including PowerPoint presentations, a virtual tour of a business premises, ready-to-use templates and reports.
The deadline for businesses to register for the Rippleffect scheme is 15th October (click here for the Ripple Effect registration form) and 28th September for Rethink Waste. ( Here’s the Rethink Waste registration form.)
