Green Business Scoops Outstanding Achievement Award
Last Thursday night, 27th November, saw the announcement of the winners of the British Chambers of Commerce Annual Awards 2008.
Amongst the regional and national winners were a number of varying sized businesses but the overall winner and winner of the Green Award was GD Environmental. Based in Newport, Wales, GD Environmental are a true Green Business that provide a complete waste management & disposal service to businesses, councils and general public across the UK. In the last 12 minths alone they have developed a £2M waste transfer station, delivered a range of recycling initiatives and are currently developing a £32M waste-to-energy plant capable of turning rubbish into green energy.
Winning the Green Award and Outstanding Business Achievement Award earnt GD Environmental £50,000 courtesy of sponsors the RBS Group. GD Environmental will be putting their award money toward their Carbon Neutrals project where they will work closely with key sporting & entertainment venues in order to educate & promote a greener Wales through recycling of items such as plastic beer glasses
The other winners included companies as wide ranging as healthy meal delivery services from Dorset to food & drink exporters from Grimsby to print & document solutions providers in Wakefield. Each one a very strong business case study displaying success in the most challenging circumstances.
