Men’s Grooming Business claims prize
This year’s £50,000 HSBC Start–Up Stars award has been presented to Bulldog Natural Grooming for its unique concept of creating chemical–free cosmetics for men.
The awards recognise creative entrepreneurs who have strong ideas on where they want to take their business. This year’s award was presented at a prize–giving ceremony in London on 29 October. HSBC head of business banking Huw Morgan said:
“Bulldog Natural Grooming is an outstanding example of what can be achieved when a unique gap in the market is identified and filled with a dynamic new business through a combination of creative flair, determination and sound commercial planning,”.
“We hope that by highlighting Bulldog Natural Grooming’s success, we can inspire other budding entrepreneurs to take the plunge and go it alone,” he added.
Bulldog Natural Grooming’s Rhodri Ferrier, said:
“With all the great contestants, we are just so excited and humbled to win. It’s been very much a team effort.”
The competition’s Green Award, which is presented to the participant with the strongest environmental credentials, was won by EaKo Ltd, which turns industrial waste into bags, belts and other accessories.
Kresse Wesling, founder of EaKo, uses old fire hose material to create her main collection of products and donates 50% of her profits to the Fire Fighters Charity.
Entrepreneurs will be able register interest in the 2009 awards from November and the entry process will open in March 2009.
