Retailers compete for Industry Award
Small retailers have until 14 November to enter a competition celebrating the best of the UK’s retail sector.
Firms of any size can enter the Retail Week Awards, as long as they are trading in the UK. There are 11 awards retailers can compete for, including Best Product Innovation, Best Customer Service Initiative and Store Design of the Year.
The Emerging Retailer of the Year award is particularly aimed at small firms. Applicants to this award are required to have between two and five years trading history and a turnover of less than £50 million. Retail Week magazine editor Tim Danaher said:
“The awards celebrate and reward the foremost aspects of the retail sector. The industry is currently making exceptional efforts to ensure margins are maintained whilst continuing to improve the customer experience, and it is paramount that retailers’ endeavours are recognised and rewarded.”
The judging panel will include Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers, Hugh Harvey, chief executive of Comet, and Asda’s Retail Group director Andy Clarke.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in March 2009.
