Entrepreneurs who work from home can compete to win a prize package worth thousands of pounds, following the launch of networking website Enterprise Nation’s Home Business Awards.

The competition is free to enter and open to home–based businesses that have been operating for more than six months. Entrants must demonstrate progress in three areas: business, work–life balance and use of technology.

The winner of the Home Business of the Year award will win free use of a virtual assistant reception service from Moneypenny UK for 12 months, along with a printer worth more than £1,000 and accounting software worth £300.

Entrepreneurs can also apply to enter three other award categories, including: home business couple of the year, home office of the year and young home business owner of the year. Prizes in these categories include £200 worth of shopping vouchers.

“With the home now being the most popular start-up location in the UK, we thought it was time to have an award dedicated to this fast-growing group of business owners,” said Enterprise Nation founder Emma Jones.

“All winners will receive plenty of profile on Enterprise Nation and across our media partners, which include, and Make Your Mark,” she added.

The judging panel includes The Times newspaper’s enterprise editor Mark Barber, Moneypenny UK’s co–founder Rachel Clacher, and Wendy Shad founder of Tots to Travel and winner of last year’s home business award.

The deadline for entries is 15 August. The winners will be announced on 1 September.
