Innovative entrepreneurs pitch for £10k cash prize
Small-business owners who can demonstrate innovative business ideas, along with the potential to grow their firm, are being invited to compete for a £10,000 cash prize following the launch of the O2 X Awards.
Businesses from any sector can enter the competition as long as they employ 50 staff or fewer, and can provide evidence of a financially stable business model that is innovative and has the potential to grow. Applicants must also show that they have strong leadership skills, drive and vision, and that their firm has a strong brand identity.
Entrepreneurs can enter one of four award categories – fashion, music, food and drink, and technology and innovation. Entrants will be judged regionally before eight finalists are selected and put forward for the national finals.
One overall winner will receive a £10,000 prize, and each of the winners from the four award categories will receive business mentoring from a respected industry figure.
Commenting on last year’s awards, O2 head of SME marketing Simon Devonshire, said:
“The finalists presented something truly original and all are now celebrating well-earned success. The overall winner, Richard Palmer, chief executive of innovation consultancy D30 Lab, is an inspiration to anyone with a dream and the drive to realise it.”
The deadline for entries to the awards is 1 September. The national winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in October.
