The Federation of Small Business has published its Budget Submission ahead of the 2008 Budget next week.

FSB Budget SubmissionWith the Chancellor’s first Budget 2008 looming next Wednesday 12th March, the FSB’s Budget Submission (647 PDF) talks of the pressures that the UK’s small businesses face and urges the chancellor to "take it easy" with Britain’s hard-working business owners.

With economic growth forecasts cut, inflationary pressures in the wing and a global credit squeeze, the environment for business is not exactly booming.

Add to this the actions of the government, in particular the controversial decision to drop Taper Relief for capital gains tax and plans to increase fuel duty by 2 pence per litre, and small business owners are certainly under a fair amount of pressure.

Highlighting skills & employment, crimes against business, transport, sustainable business, high street decline and taxation, the FSB’s report provides plenty of grist for the chancellor’s mill.

Though with d-day (b-day?) just over week away, the chancellor is sure to have made his decisions on the country’s economic way forward already…
