More Postal Strikes Planned
The Communication Workers Union announced yesterday that there will be further strike action…
Small Business News – 21st September 2007
The strike dates, agreed by the CWU’s Postal Executive, are:
- Friday 5th & Saturday 6th October (48 hour strike)
- Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th October (48 hour strike)
The staggering of the 2 postal strike periods will effectively delay Royal Mail deliveries from the Friday to the following Wednesday. Royal Mail’s advice to business is to bring forward planned mailings, wherever possible, in order to avoid the strike days.
Although Royal Mail will attempt to lessen the effects of the industrial action disruption to services is inevitable. Royal Mail will be unable to collect business mail during the strike.
Parcelforce Worldwide guaranteed services will be unaffected by the strike.
After this period of strike action, the week commencing October 15th will see further strikes on a weekly basis until the resolution of the dispute.
